Erlingur Thoroddsen is an award-winning writer and director from Reykjavík, Iceland and a graduate from Columbia University's MFA Film Directing Program. His films have screened at various international festivals such as South By Southwest, BFI London Film Festival and Fantastic Fest. Erlingur's second feature, RIFT, premiered as the Closing Night Film at Gothenburg Film Festival in 2017 as well as being awarded Artistic Achievement at Outfest. 

In 2019, he was the executive producer and writer for Blumhouse and Hulu’s, MIDNIGHT KISS, a feature length segment of ‘Into the Dark’. He wrote and directed COLD, an adaptation of Yrsa Sigurdardottir’s best-selling novel that topped the Icelandic box office for four weeks, becoming one of the top-grossing films of 2023. It was nominated for six Edda awards the following year, including for Best Screenplay.

Erlingur most recently wrote and directed THE PIPER, a horror film set in the world of classical music, produced by Millennium Media and released in theaters worldwide in the spring of 2024.
